Project | Sharpsburg Design Studio
The Sharpsburg Design Studio began as a collaborative effort between the Blue Grass Community Foundation and the University of Kentucky's CEDIK, and builds on the mission and values of the Winchester Design Studio.
Situated in the Sharpsburg Community Center, the primary aim of the Studio is to work alongside local residents to generate ideas and identify key priorities to revive the downtown area, improve the local park, establish youth programs, and enhance the overall quality of life in Sharpsburg through placemaking and design.
Through partnerships with local organizations, the Design Studio has organized various community-building events, activated the community center and park, facilitated art classes for people of all ages, conducted a youth design camp resulting in a quilt square mural, and contributed to the beautification of Main Street with sidewalk planters.
As of September 2023, CEDIK is no longer an active partner in this Studio effort. We wish the community and the studio all the best in future endeavors. Any inquiries about the Sharpsburg Design Studio should reach out to the studio coordinator, Alice Hilton, with the R.L. Brown Foundation.
