Each of the following communities hosted summer Community Design interns to re-envision the possibilities contained within their public spaces.
Manchester KY 2018
Consisting of 4 multi-disciplinary interns this effort was specifically tailored for Manchester, where the students studied the city’s built and natural environments to determine the DNA of the downtown. This information was used to create a menu of potential projects for the city to be used as a foundation for future revitalization efforts.
Manchester EffortsHarlan KY 2019
Given the diverse backgrounds of 2019's student interns, their work focused on the buildings and places in downtown Harlan that help give the downtown its unique character. Once these elements were identified, the students worked together to determine how these elements could be capitalized on to support downtown revitalization.
Harlan EffortsFlemingsburg KY 2022
The work of design interns in Flemingsburg, KY 2022 laid a foundation for residents to unite with a common vision for the future of their city; a vision that honors Flemingsburg’s vibrant history, geography, people and perseverance. A plan that “bridges” past, present and future is what is required for Flemingsburg.

Between the rich history of the railway industry, its beautiful scenery perfect for outdoor adventures, and the unique architecture of the downtown, Irvine is unique in many ways. Historically a hustling and bustling town, Community Design Interns created a plan for Irvine's downtown to put Irvine back on the path towards economic revitalization and prosperity.
Irvine EffortsOhio River Way Challenge 2024
Nine Community Design interns with CEDIK and Landscape Architecture faculty and staff began their summer immersion in Maysville by embarking on a river canoe journey along the Ohio River as part of the Ohio River Way Challenge on June 5, 2024.
