Professional Biography
Sarah Frank Bowker is the Managing Director for the Community & Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky. A Cincinnati, Ohio native with degrees in psychology (Xavier University) and rural sociology (University of Kentucky), Sarah has spent over 15 years working throughout Kentucky to build engaged communities and vibrant economies.
Sarah’s communications expertise includes both digital and print, however her primary interest is in how effectively visualizing data can help organizations and communities take action. The May 2022 & 2023 Rural America Placemaking Toolkit website and national rural placemaking online conference with USDA Rural Development are Sarah’s largest communications projects to date.
When she isn’t trying to convince others of the merits of a bar graph vs. pie chart, Sarah can be found sharing yoga and meditation classes, or spending time outside with her daughter.
