Professional Biography
Seth Hart is a Program Assistant for Community Arts at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office. He’s a graduate of Campbellsville University and has been serving in Extension since 2010. His background and expertise are in visual arts with specialties in clay and pencil drawing. Among other mediums, there is a high demand and interest in Wayne County for pottery and barn quilt painting, emphasizing the importance of both function and heritage. Since 2013, quilt painting workshops have been taught each year to help refresh and extend the local barn quilt trail in which Seth established. This notion has also allowed him to prove that artisanship and practical skills are connected, which supports his philosophy that “art will always be vital to a job in some role. For no matter what tool you’re using, whether it’s a paint brush, knife or hammer, those very same tools are used in certain ways for daily tasks, even if it’s just for minimal purpose. However, a creative mind can hold a broader vision for it and therefore inspires the artist to enhance the job with something extra.”
Overall, Seth serves a wide range of audiences, collaborating through school enrichment with 4-H programs to encourage extracurricular opportunities for youth. He also facilitates events for CA Homemakers, art camps and Farmers Market, representing local craft vendors. When teaching, he uses art to improve mental, spiritual and emotional health which is welcomed and well received by ADANTA groups, the elderly and other services.
