New programs for Extension audiences:

Enhancing the Marketing Skills of Artisans (EMSA)

Program Description:

The purpose of this project is to provide educational resources to people who make their living, or a portion of their living, as artisans or crafts persons, thereby enhancing their marketing skills and profitability. Three educational modules have been developed that will enhance these skills. The modules are: E-Commerce; Booth Design and Marketing; and Trends and Niche Marketing. The modules are currently online so that Extension Agents can utilize the materials at any time.

Stronger Economies Together (SET)

Kentucky Regions:

Kentucky Highlands Region: 22 counties in Southeast Kentucky

Northwest Kentucky Forward: 5 counties surrounding Henderson County, Kentucky

Program description:

The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension in conjunction with USDA Rural Development and the Southern Rural Development Center have implemented a program called Stronger Economies Together (SET), a new initiative to provide regional strategic planning assistance to multi-county areas in rural Kentucky. The SET program provides intensive training and technical assistance to entities encompassing two or more counties to facilitate collaborative regional development. The goal is to assist counties that wish to work together to capitalize on the strengths of their region and develop ways to enhance the quality of life in their region.
