Sarah Frank Bowker is the Communications and Operations Director for the Community & Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at the University of Kentucky. A Cincinnati, Ohio native with degrees in psychology (Xavier University) and rural sociology (University of Kentucky), Sarah has spent over 13 years working throughout Kentucky to build engaged communities and vibrant economies.

Sarah’s communications background includes traditional areas of digital and print communication, however her primary interest is in how effectively visualizing data can help organizations and communities take action. The May 2022 Rural America Placemaking Toolkit website and national rural placemaking online conference with USDA Rural Development are Sarah’s largest communications projects to date.

When she isn’t trying to convince others of the merits of a bar graph vs. pie chart, Sarah is teaching twice weekly yoga and meditation classes, co-leading a Girl Scout troop, or spending time outside with her husband and daughter.
