Research Areas of Focus
Economic Development
CEDIK has been participating with a team of Kentucky organizations in MIT's Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP) sixth cohort. We are working alongside the Cabinet for Economic Development, SOAR, Centre College, BitSource, Logan Aluminum and others to launch a new entity, Accelerate Kentucky, that will help develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kentucky.
Economics of Rural Healthcare Systems
The Federal Office of Rural Health Policy recently awarded CEDIK with funding to establish a national center. The Center for Economic Analysis of Rural Health, CEARH, is currently in its fourth year. Learn more about the work of the center and read the research publications on the CEARH website.
Our research faculty and staff have partnered with the Rural and Underserved Health Research Center to produce publications that explore ambulance service and call times. View our research publications here.
Local Food Systems
A USDA-AFRI funded project to explore consumer perceptions of the local food system and demand for local foods among 16 southern U.S. cities/counties. We are partnering with the University of Arkansas, Clemson University, and North Carolina State University on this work.
Research on the effect of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) employer incentive programs on eating behaviors and health outcomes, funded by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service Farmers’ Market Promotion Program.
Working on another grant funded project with a national network of organizations to expand CSA employer incentive programs to private industry.
