An Associate Professor at UK, Alison’s faculty appointment is in the Agricultural Economics Department of the College of Agriculture. As an Extension Specialist, Alison stays very active training county Extension agents and providing economic analyses for community groups.  She has also organized new programs in the areas of rural economic development and rural health.  For one of her rural economic development programs, Alison has helped three county teams in Eastern Kentucky undergo a local planning process, developed a statewide network of economic development professionals, and initiated a campus-wide conference for faculty to share research on economic development at UK. Alison also directs the Kentucky Rural Health Works program, and stays on top of emerging policy issues related to rural health leadership and childhood obesity. Dr. Davis has had a successful track record in securing funding for these programs through a variety of sources.

In addition to her Extension roles, Alison also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at UK, advises five graduate students, and has published several journal articles and book chapters. Alison is also a UK Faculty Senator and a past President of the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals.

Lori facilitates strategic planning and community visioning processes in communities and civic organizations. She has facilitated strategic planning related to economic development, land use and growth management, tourism development, and general community development.

Ron is currently director of the Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute (KECI). In addition to entrepreneurship, his specialty areas include rural economic development, leadership development, public issues education, strategic planning and public conflict analysis and resolution.

Jayoung joined CEDIK in September 2012 after finishing her PhD at the University of California, Davis. Her doctoral research explored conversions of urban brownfields into sustainable public open spaces and how people currently use and perceive of the transformed places. She will be providing design assistance to Extension communities throughout the state. Her research and teaching interests include restoration of deteriorated landscapes, social factors of public places and support for healthy sustainable communities.

Rick’s areas of focus include rural, community, and economic development. He conducts extension programs in the areas of business retention and expansion, local service delivery and planning, land use, program evaluation, and community health service assessment and planning.

Kristina is the Leadership Development Specialist for Kentucky Cooperative Extension. She provides leadership training for Extension faculty and specialized leadership presentations for various community groups. Kristina also publishes a good resource for basic leadership information that can be used in a variety of circumstances. Jason’s professional experience consists of hotel operations, market/feasibility analysis, hospitality real estate advisory services, and tourism development.  He has worked for consulting clients in the restaurant, hotel, spa, convention center, marina, golf course, and government sectors in over 50 markets throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Asia. Jason conducts research on community-based tourism development, tourism trade association management, and tourism policy advocacy.

Michael’s Extension and research focus is on the factors that impact rural economic development. His primary Extension program seeks to enhance community vitality by strengthening the capacity for new and existing businesses to thrive and grow through community-based initiatives. Michael has focused attention on research projects concerning regionalism, entrepreneurship and rural migration. He has also been involved in numerous international agricultural research/extension projects including tropical tree crops marketing in western Africa and conservation agriculture in southern Africa.
